2. Principles of this service

PrintMatch is a free tool for comparing PDF print files. It requires no registration, sets no cookies, embeds no third-party content and uses no tracking or analytics services. The language is determined by the address path (/de/ or /en/), not by cookies.

3. Hosting

The service runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The data centre is located in Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place; Hetzner processes data solely on our instructions.

4. Server log files

On every request the web server automatically records: IP address, date and time, requested address, HTTP status code, amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system (user agent) and the previously visited page (referrer) if your browser transmits it. The purpose is secure and stable operation, defence against attacks and error analysis. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating the service). Log files are deleted after 14 days. They contain no information about uploaded files.

5. Uploaded files

The PDF files you upload for comparison are processed exclusively in the server's working memory and are not written to any storage medium. Processing lasts only as long as the comparison itself; immediately after the result has been sent to your browser, the files and all intermediate images generated from them are deleted. This usually takes a few seconds.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (provision of the service you requested); where the files contain personal data of third parties, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You are responsible for being entitled to process the files you upload.

6. Abuse protection

To protect the service from overload we limit the number of comparisons per user and hour. For this purpose your IP address is combined with a random value that changes daily into a check value (hash); only this hash and the times of your comparisons are kept in memory for at most one hour. No reversal to your IP address is intended. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

7. Contact

If you contact us by email we process your details to handle the enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). The data is deleted once the enquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21). Please use the contact details above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the competent authority is Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany.

9. Changes

We adapt this policy when the service or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies.
